Celebration Current mood: sleepy
of death and life. The anniversary of my fathers death. It was along time ago, and, well, not really a whole lot to do with me.I have this ideal idea (he he) of what he was, which changes year after year.Although I seem to be getting more understanding as time goes by.It's wonderful how a person can be exactly what you want them to be, as long as you have no interaction with them. Or the interaction is very distantly past.I still wish I could've had more time with the guy I got my sense of humour, my hair, and my eyes from.Bah.On a lighter note, I did get accepted to my masters program. Now I get to be really busy, and hang out in lakes . and coffee shops reading papers.and libraries, drinking coffee. and in boats drinking coffee and thinking about papers. And occasionally the bar, drinking coffee with irish whiskey, dorking out about lakes, and procrastinating about papers.Yay.I am a libra, apparently it's all about balance.

30
30 Current mood: good
So on this beautiful crazy fall day, I am celebrating my 30th birthday. I am having a pretty awesome day, but wanted to share an anecdote.
This dude at a truck outfitting shop, on hearing it was my birthday, asked me how I felt about turning 30. I said I was pretty happy about it, I made it this far. He went on to reminisce on his own 30th, and how hard it was for him to turn 30. I have to say I was a little taken aback. If anything I feel like this is the prime. Things make a little more sense than they used to, and I am pretty stoked on everything I have done and experienced and have so many more things to look forward to. I kind of feel like a ripening fruit.
(I guess eventually I will be a really nice wine :) )

the end of April
the end of April Current mood: nostalgic
And what a lovely end it is. Finally we have some April showers to bring us those May flowers.Everything is fresh and alive. All the windows are open.We can finally get rid of all those layers of clothes and bask in the sunlight.Time to bask.Well maybe not. That wind has sure picked up.The still leafless trees outside are swaying up a storm, maybe we will replenish those water tables yet.maybe i should go clothes the windows from the upcoming rain.yummy rain.i love sleeping when it rains.

the Sunshine is Back
the Sunshine is Back Current mood: hopeful
So beautiful days, sunshine, abandoned houses, and lots of dusty wind.
the horrific reminder, I just, moments ago, killed, yes murdered in cold blood, the first mosquito of the season.
maybe, just maybe, I caught the epidemic in the bud, and no more evil bloodsuckers will drain us. although environmentally, bugs are super important in the whole life cycle thing. ding ding ring the bell the mosquito debate begins....
It's a dry one here in the Southwest. Farmers and ranchers are already trucking water in. yikes.
Hot Fuzz, the only movie besides Grindhouse that I have to have to have to see in the theaters.... who wants to go? (on a rainy day, i need me more sunshine)
although I already have a bit too much, its the winter over first warm week sunburn. although I really love that I smell like sunscreen and probably will for the next 5 months. ahhhhh.
The boobie social was a grand success, at least $3900, raised for breast cancer research. Thanks to everyone who came and helped out! Everyone had a wicked time, and the airbands were a huge success! We made a dvd, and hopefully I can get some of that up here, for all yall to enjoy. Although, the c-cupcakes are talking about next years event.... apparently we needed a bigger space....
anyway.
bbq season is back in session.

Movie Marathon
Movie Marathon Current mood: dorky Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
For strangers to me, and maybe some sheltered friends, I have an obsession with movies, weird ones, a lot of the time, but these cold winter months have resurrected my long lost movie marathoner. Plus the six pack deal at Movie Village has helped cultivate my thrifty movie watching tastebuds.I have seen many many many crappy movies. One would think I would be able to cull these from the herd, but they still have a way of infiltrating the selection. It has something to do with the gems I have encountered willy nilly on my adventures. For example the following feature about the Pirana Women from the wilds of the avocado jungle. Who knew?Good movie - Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of DeathBill Moyer is at his finest and probably most scantily claddest in this classic Southern California based cult film. Shannon Tweed give us a noble and comparitively overdressed role, in one of the least promiscuous movies I have seen her in. So many classic moments in this movie, and so little spent on budget. A surprise from a collection of otherwise sombering selections this week. Horrible Horrible horrible - National Lampoons Last Resortargh, why.Too many cut flashing scenes and references to lost boys and corey feldmanesque acting, and weird weird weird weirdness, of the not really fun variety. Kudos to the Yaya priestess. She was a good actress I think. Or maybe it was by comparison. At least everyone seems to get laid, even the old Jewish couple. Not a classic Lampoon.(I couldn't resist the Coreys)Whoo-hoo - Knight Rider Season 1-Disc 1Oh Michael, when did you grow up and become David Hasselhoff?!?Classic turbo boost, 1982 Pontiac Trans-am, the stuffy Devan, beautiful Bonnie, and the fight to well, drive around and meet hot chicks, and get in car chases, and jump stuff. And surprise the bad guy with the awesome power of KITT.I really like the broad sweeping shots of so-cal.I think my favourite episode so far, besides the pilot, probably the stunt driver episode.... although the rancher fight for water was pretty good too, and I liked the one where Devan gets put in jail and busts out showing us his uber-tough side "i've escaped out of two gestapo prisons, i can get out of this facility" (paraphrased poorly)"Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist. Michael Knight, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the powerless, the helpless in a world of criminals who operate above the law. "Motherfucking D Y'all - Tenacious D - The Complete Masterworks(Due to stupid dvd issues, I didna git to see it all) butman I love the D!Jack Black has a definite energy to be admired, nay envied.Kyle Gass has finger-bloodying riffs to be proud of.With music to curl your toes to.More of an obsessed fan perusing every morsel of D journey. Not quite a Saturday afternoon darning socks for an hour and a half.A never ending journey inspiring mad riffs, and the occasional rock epic.I am really looking forward to the movie, Pick of Destiny.I think the super-fan Lee was my favourite....Holy Shit - Heartworn HighwaysHearing Townes play Waiting Round to Die, the first song he ever wrote, according to himself, and then watching Uncle Seymour cry fricking made me cry. Watching songs played and being able to see the chords and strumming and faces of the players.I think this one has made it to the top 10. At least in the documentary genre. The close personal interaction with Townes and others, remind me of some near and dear folks who are also extremely talented and full of aliveness. Getting gushy now. I guess we're all made up of the same dirt in the end. It just gets blown around some.
